Fresh Tomato Sauce

My garden hasn't done very well this year
so I headed off to our local
farm stand Jackson's
and got a box of 2nds for $6
I had already cleaned up 1/2 of the box
before I took the photo
it was clear full
First off I boiled them
for a short time
just long enough for them to get hot

 then under cold water

so the skins would slip off

In the crockpot with
fresh basil and minced garlic

cook until softened
I drained off the juice
to use for tomato juice

the processed the tomatoes
with a blender

let it cook down
and you are done!

I got 6 qts bags of sauce

  2. Jo, Love your photography. Very colorful. I made something similar, only did not use the slow cooker. It was delicious but I think with the slow cooker it would be less labor intensive for the cook, and I'm all for that. Thanks!

  11. Something like I do but I also add onions, peppers and hamburger. Makes for simple spaghetti sauce and hot dish starter. You did a great job teaching. Thank you.
Take care and have a blessed weekend.
