I can't believe....

... it's been
30 days
since I did anything crafty!
lampshade bird bath

I have a bizzillion ideas
running around in my puny head
not to mention
I have items stuck all over the place!

Why, you ask?

Well lets see..
.in 6 weeks we went on 3 trips

Lake Erie

I love each and everyone of them but
oh my
what terrible planning on my part
You've seen my trips and all the fun
things we have seen and done
but I'm ancy

A couple of wrenches have been
thrown in the way as well
I still have red bumps

Can you believe it has been almost

from those lovely chigger creatures
I sure hope I don't have any scars
they no longer itch but I don't
feel comfortable going out in
public w/o long pants
and in this recent 90+ temps
it makes it difficult
I got nothing accomplished the
first 14 days w/ them
they either hurt or itched or both!

While in the process of packing up
one dtr to move her from
one apt to another
our other dtr called in pain
and ended up
 having surgery the next day,
My hsb left on Fri am driving to MI
to be with her while I helped our other dtr
pack clean and move

careers,clipboards,doctors,employees,healthcare,hospitals,jobs,males,medicine,men,occupations,operating rooms,operations,people,people at work,persons,physicians,surgeons,surgeries,vocations,working,writers,writings

Dtr #1 was kept overnight and d/c the
next am and my hsb helped her move as well
(she was in the process of getting
ready to move back home
when this all happened)
as soon as the Dr gives his ok
she be heading south
so that will be another trip!
 (OOPS -I forgot that)
We will become re-nesters for awhile

He then drove back home 6 hrs that eve
and the next day
we finished w/ the dtr here
luckily it was in the
 same complex and close

Today I am beat
and the next week
we will be busy
getting things ready
for our dtrs return
(we kind of re-purposed her old room)

.it will have to wait a little longer
but SOON
I will be taking this stuff
and making
 some awesome
 new stuff!!!

Mon Ami Winery

When Chuck and I
got married almost 15 yrs ago
we couldn't afford much for
a honeymoon but I did
fly out to Ohio
from AZ and we
stayed at a bed abd breakfast
then went
to Kelly's Island on Lake Erie
for the day
We also went to Mon Ami
for dinner and wine

The place has changed alot over the years
The main room now is open
it use to be booths
and tables

there are 2 barrel shaped booths

The night we went they had a pasta bar
where you selected the type pasta
sauce and the ingredients and they cooked
it i front of you

When we were there before they had a seperate building
called the chalet
it was a small
run down chalet
with a fireplace

this is what they call the chalet now

not even close

the grounds

I went to Goodwill Outlet
this weekend
yes there is actually a
place called Goodwill outlet
I blogged abt it here

You pay buy the pound
so I take the price
and divide it by the items
for the cost
Each item was $1.50

the wallpaper was pieces
some were longer than others
the photo doesn't show
the true color
it has more of a gold sheen to it

I might even cover this case
with it some of my dtrs mail
still comes to the house so
I am going to put this
one the chair in the foyer
and put her mail in it

It will need a major clean up
I'm not sure how old it is

I also got this stand
it was priced for $2

I will be spray painting

We stopped at Kohl's
these plates were orginally 11.99

on sale for 3.41
and I had 15% off
so they ended up

Watermelon Salsa

I know this sounds odd but.......
so very tasty!

The recipe is from EatingWell Magazine

3 cups finely diced seedless watermelon
  • 2 jalapeno peppers, seeded and minced
  • 1/3 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • 1/4 cup minced red onion
I could show you photos
 of me chopping this
but I figure you know how

Place watermelon, jalapenos, cilantro,
lime juice and onion in a medium bowl;
stir well to combine.

Serve at room temperature or chilled.
I think I prefer it chilled

This is very refreshing!

I also made it with peaches
instead of watermelon

Malabar Inn

On our way home from vacation
we stopped at
the historic Malabar Inn for lunch

located within Malabar State Park
, it is a restored "stagecoach" inn built in 1820.
Today, the inn is state-owned and offers home-cooked meals

My hsb had

Two slices of home-made meatloaf
with andouille sausage in the middle.
 Topped with mushroom sauce.

I had
A traditional French Sandwich
served hot on grilled baguette bread
with grilled ham and melted fontina cheese.

There is a produce stand next door
