Vacation Finds

We stopped in this one place
Inn-tique in Milan OH

They had tons of stuff
however most was not
marked
which I personally hate
to have to ask what a price
is since I feel that they hike it up
to see if you'll bite

The pattern is

lilac time
I found some on line
any where from 12.99-19.99
 for the fork alone

They are engraved
Randy

11-29-59

I probably paid more for these
glass knobs

than I should've
orginal he wanted $30
for 6 of them
no way was I going to pay that
so I ended up paying $20
I had not seen any of
these small of ones
and I have plans for them

The bad part was we went to
another place
called
Sights and Sounds of Edison
Milan is the home town of Thomas Edison

and got 2 for $2
I also got the
 architectural piece for $4

We are hoping to be
able to use it to replace the
part on the from of
our house that has rotted

While on Put-in-Bay

I found a piece of material
which I didn't know
was a shower curtain
for $2

It will be perfect to recover
some chairs

We did stop at this one antique/junk shop

they had a lot of things but
it was so overloaded
that you really couldn't see anything

(sorry fort he quality used my phone)

you get the idea
I bet there were treasures but
it was awful in there
not to mention
most things were
not marked
and you know how I feel abt that!

  1. Hi Jo! Oh, I love your silverware and the little glass knobs! I'm like you - I hate it when things are not marked! Looks like a great time you had prowling through all of the goodie shops! :)
    Be a sweetie,

  3. I don't like it when things aren't marked either. Most of the time, I just walk away.

There is an antique store here in town that is too crowded to enjoy as well.

If you are ever in Mansfield, stop at the Carousel Antique Mall downtown. The prices are reasonable and it is a treat for the eye to go in there. If it is a Tuesday, say hello to Ginny.

    Have a wonderful weekend! La

  4. I think in the end you got a deal on the glass knobs..they are so pretty. I was really liking the silverware, so detailed...I have never seen it engraved like that too. Thanks so much for joining me this week. I do look forward to seeing more of your fun finds. I hit follow, and I guess I am already:) Debbie

  5. Love the silver!! Great Score! Why DON"T shops put prices on things?? I guess they want you to make an offer?? Which I hate doing. Cute kitty...

  6. Jo- Like the cute little knobs and that pretty fabric. Glad you got a better deal for some of your knobs. As for unmarked mdse.- I don't like having to ask for prices or being told to make a starting offer. I don't want to insult anybody with a low ball number, but I also don't want to overpay, either! Just price things, people!

  10. I really had fun checking out all of your treasures. Antiquing is my favorite thing to do. I too HATE when things aren't marked. It just isn't right. My cousin sold things at a flea market and he never priced anything. He always said he charged what the customer allows. He would size up the customer and then name a price. I always think about that when things are not priced. Your thought on that is right.

    Happy thrifty shopping.
    Hugs, Jeanne

  12. Love your treasures! I particularly love the little glass knobs. The house we just moved from was 126 years old and in the butlers pantry the drawers had little glass knobs original to the house, I loved them.:o)
    Enjoy your treasures.
    Fondly,

  14. I love the look of these shops...I keep forgetting to take pictures of the outside of the places I visit. You found some amazing things. I love the architectural piece and engraved silverware.

  15. I am like you, I hate it when things are not marked although at one of my favorite thrift shops, the owner tells me he doesn't put prices on things because people just tear them off. He is very fair though with his prices and is willing to bargain. I love that. I kinda have to learn to let go off things unless they are really rare and I really love them otherwise you I find I can get really ripped off. Love the glass knobs.

  19. Yeah, I feel the same way about not marking things. I hate that at garage sales as well. I wonder if people realize that makes us buy less?

I like the new Back To School theme for your blog...very cute :)

  23. Yep, I'm not a fan of people not marking things either. And I love when I throw out a low price and they get all offended and turn their nose up at me. Well, price the stuff then!!!! Glad you were able to get the silver - it's a very pretty design.
