Saturday Adventure 2

As we drove down the road we saw a sign for Cowan Lake state Park - we had never been there so we decided to stop and see what was there- we were pleasantly surprised - there was a nice beach as well as a marina and a lot of picnic areas:

My dtr decided she was going to wade in - the water was actually pretty warm:

There were a lot of sailboats, pontoon boats and canoes - no speedboats

We left there knowing we are going to be back. There are cabins on the lake so that is also a possibility.

So we continued down the road and saw a sign that said Strawberry Festival 4-8. So we decided what the heck, lets go and see............We found a church that was having a lawn party:

They had more than strawberries but we weren't really hungry:

They had homemade vanilla ice cream with strawberries......yum:

There was bluegrass:

Sometimes the best days are the ones you don't have planned out...............

Saturday Adventure Part 1

Yesterday was a very busy day. We knew we were going to go to the 2 lavender farms beyond that we didn't know what were going to do - just see what happened a long the way.........

Our trip started out at:

Lavender Farm/Festival #1

There were lavender crafts as well as general craft booths (Also whoopie pies!)

There was music

There was lavender chicken salad (I forgot to take pictures of it) and lavender lemonade

There was homemade lavender ice cream, if you ever get the change try it - it was wonderful!!

For $5 you could cut a bundle of lavender, so my dtr decided she wanted to do it:

Even my hsb got into cutting lavender - he had to "man" it up though:

I have a love for lavender - its not just a like - I mean I LOVE LAVENDER. So when I saw we have a lot of lavender farms around us I was over the moon. Then I found a pamphlet for a Lavender festival tomorrow, so as you might have guess I KNEW we would be attending. I don't usually like to go into crowds but this will be an exception!

I always loved the scent but never experienced the taste of lavender. We stayed at a B &B in Amish Country and one of the courses was lemon pound cake with (you guessed it) lavender! I know it sounds bizarre but it isn't! They are going to have lavender chicken salad, lavender and blueberry cake lavender cookies, lavender lemonade even lavender ice cream (could it get any better 2 of my favorites!).

There will be lavender classes on soap making,paper making, lavender wands, and a lavender tea

I have to feel sorry for my poor hsb

....I think I'll be in lavender heaven.

Bear in a Trunk

All of the major items were bought at a local thrift store for a total of $4.50

What you need:

A Teddy Bear .50

Doily .50

Teacup .50

Travel case $3

Add either tissue paper or plastic bags to the bottom of the travel case:

Add the doily so it will hang over the side:



Add the teddy bear:


Then the tea cup and saucer:

I put some crinkle paper in the cup. Add candies, shells, teabags or any other item in the cup:

Add you are done. Very simple and very sweet!!

Any suggestions.................?

I have a dilemma today.

I recently stepped down from my volunteer job of VP of Retail Management i.e. managing a thrift store for the theater. The are multiple reasons the biggest is my health is suffering

Now on to the dilemma.

I have no where to go, no where to be, no task to be done.......So what do I do? What do I want to do? There are non fun stuff like house cleaning, laundry (screaming form the corner- do me, do me!!) or fun stuff like making jewelry, reading a book, sewing the teddy bear for a soon to be cousin, genealogy, redecorate..........or do what my hsb suggested go take pictures with my new camera and go out for lunch! (Gotta love the man who suggests you go have fun)

Since I can't decide I'll sit here read some blogs, drink coffee .enjoy the the peace and quiet and when the mood strikes me do something.........any suggestions?

Teacup Birdfeeder

You will need the following:

You won't really need a hatchet (my hsb wanted to use it cuz it's new)

2 part epoxy

dowel

teacup and saucer

spray paint

Make a point on one end of the dowel:

When that doesn't work (overkill) you can whittle it:

Spray it whatever color you chose:

Mix the epoxy as per the pkg instructions:

Apply to the cup

and set in the center of the saucer:

Apply epoxy to the bottom of the saucer once the cup and saucer has set up:

Allow to set up. Once the epoxy has set up you can insert it inot the ground and fill with birdseed
