A difference a day makes

Woke up the other morning to

my neighbors house 

looking like this

it normally looks like this

and now

looks like this

It really has made the house stand out

The accent colors on the house

are a cranberry color

What a great view from our porch

Bed to Bench

I didn't think 

to take photos of this 

as a bed
It was given to us
by a friend
It was all hand made
but it was an odd size

prior to painting

my husband used the side boards 

cutting them with a curve

then added strips of wood

for the seat

the sides were made

out of

the foot board

the bench
sanded

was primed

then painted

with heirloom white

the front posts were cut down

We have gone round about 

whether or not to add

wooden balls to the front

posts

I think it turned out pretty well

Mother's Day Brunch

Once again

we went to 

The Hilton Garden Inn

in Beavercreek

for their 

Mother's Day Brunch

When you come into the ballroom

up front was a 

seafood area

with

cold shrimp 

and 

crab claw display

smoked salmon

to the left

was your

standard breakfast foods

bacon, sausage, potatoes

baked banana and chocolate French toast

and eggs

it progressed into a 

salad area

cucumber and tomato pasta

fresh fruit and

Caesar salad

to the right

are hot entrees

and sides

rice pilaf, green beans, carrots

chicken stuff with bacon and cheese

bourbon salmon, 

baked ham with cranberry chutney 

There was a prime rib 

and leg of lamb carving station

(both were cooked to perfection!)

They also had a made

to order omelet area

The dessert table 

had cakes, cookies

and sampler desserts

the mini desserts were

coffee cheesecake

cream puffs

Boston cream pie, chocolate pie

petite fours, lemon cheesecake, 

apple and berry pies

then there was Gigi's mini cupcakes

Vanilla

Strawberry

(actually tasted like strawberries 

not that artificial strawberries)

lemon 

Orange (tasted like creamsicles)

besides the ballroom

there are tables in

the garden area

Brunch is usually held

on Easter and Mother's Day

I wish that they also

had one on 

Father's Day and Christmas

(hint, hint)

Good food

Good company

What else could you ask for?

I'm not sure

what he thought 

he was doing

maybe showing off 

his acrobatic skills

or maybe he is

trying to get the

attention of his lady love 

whatever the reason

I was amused

and so it begins....

As many people know

this year I am co-chairing 

our communities

First Friday events

In previous years 

I volunteered

doing whatever needed to be done

This is our 4th yr

of having First Fridays

and it keeps growing

 There were artisans

and home based businesses

even the local Firefighters had a booth

selling T Shirts and giving out

fire safety info

 Face Painting

 A local karate school

demonstration 

when the band took a break 

and of course fair type food 

 Pork Chop Sandwiches

were delicious

  The band 

The Hathaways

were so good

we are trying to get them

back for another month 

 My dtr

with her friends dtr

She loved her

balloon dog

 It did rain but the crowd remained

and even got bigger 

once the rain stopped

of Conditions for Stray Animals

Some non-profit

like our Senior Center

 A Zumba benefit

for a baby born

premature and with

many health issues

They had 85 people attend

Fire Twirlers

Everyone seems to have 

a great time

There were a lot of people

strolling abt with their 

children and grandchildren

Now on to the next one...June 1st
